Interview with DEIMLER (Spain)

DEIMLER from Cáceres, Spain. Pako Deimler as a strong man who are responsible hard behind the establishment of this interesting  group. After two years of being born out of decay, he emerged struggling with this rather prominent materials as an EP '' Zero One '' launched in April 2020. It lasted 22.08 minutes, containing five tracks such as;  1.Zero One, 2.Indoctrinate, 3.Your Coffin, 4.Mechanical Universes of Flesh and 5.Bodily Ransack (AVULSED cover). As their first craft, this can be expressed as the best in terms of production. Firstly, the sound is very creamy, quality and all the instruments can be clearly perceived and expected to make your ears bleed chronically. DIEMLER has tended to exude an ironically moderated tone, at least as far as the mixture of traditional technique and the band's sound really strikes the right nerve for me, boasting tasteful melodic sensibilities. This album flashes by in a blaze of fury; complete with that technically death metal ashes and Swedish's sound i.e ; acidic guitar tone (synonymous to the boss HM effect), beastly harsh vocal attack, and a sublime drums sound featuring one the most pummeling snare, and a terrifying pedaling kicks, by Oscar Trigger. Even though with my little evaluation, this band has put out naturally in finding elements of these soon-to-develop subsets, in much the same fashion that one might glean elements from the early 90s output of DEATH and OBITUARY. So with this EP production, I think DEIMLER has an easier platform on their upcoming material for sure! Other members contributing to DEIMLER are: Oscar Trigger (Drums), Luisma Romero (Bass) and Toto Castelló (Guitars). Let's read some relaxing interview with DEIMLER's frontman Pako about the current developments of his group ...
Hi, please give us some intro and what is your main reason to form  DEIMLER?

Pako : Hi friend, thanks you for giving us this opportunity on Metal Distraction. I am delighted to answer this interview, I am Pako Deimler, I am responsible for all the writing, concept and composition of DEIMLER's music. In answer to your question, I founded DEIMLER in 1998 together with 4 other friends, we wanted to do Metal but we were very young and with very little means, the band was active for about 5 years, in 2018 I decided to resurrect the band, I am the the only member who composes, writes and records the music, the rest of the members are only supporting the live performance.

You just released the "Zero One" EP, and it's hot now on the market.
Has this project been planned for a long time?

Pako : I had a long time with the idea in mind of resuscitating DEIMLER, the composition and recording of these 4 songs and the version has been the work of 8 months, having to do all the instrumentation I only turn out to be an arduous task, but very satisfactory for the Outcome.

Your lyrical is related to gore, science fiction, aliens, futurism etc. I think you did some kind of research about it?

Pako : The theme of "Zero One" are everyday stories taken to science fiction and with a very Death Metal background, which is the idea to develop in DEIMLER. A universe between two worlds, the real and the fictional, everyday stories based on the classic theme of the genre, adding a part of science fiction, in order to try not to saturate the concept so used by most bands of the genre, which basically They only talk about death, zombies and destruction, our concept and lyrics go much further.
Your sound is mostly towards swedish death metal and is that what you want to?

Pako : Yes, of course, it is what I have always wanted, my musical influences are many, but what I want for DEIMLER is something very close to Old School Finnish and Swedish Death Metal, the Boss HM2 pedal is something wonderful in terms of sound.

What are your targets after the release of this EP?

Pako : Right now I am immersed in the recording of 9 new songs for a next full album, we would like to have it ready for the first of next year, but as the current situation is, that date may vary. We have already recorded the drums for 9 new songs, this time Gabriel Artina has taken over the recording of drums, who becomes part of the DEIMLER family of musicians. They have been recorded again at the Moontower Studios, Javi Félez was in charge of recording and producing them.

What is DEIMLER really means? Does it have any specific meaning in Spanish?

Pako : DEIMLER does not have a translation into any language, DEIMLER is the first machine not manufactured by humans capable of creating human life, endowed with its own intelligence, alien to humanity.
Little personal knowledge of the onset of the pandemic at this time.
In your personal opinion does it stem from animals or human themselves? I think it's part of an interesting topic for your lyrics later?

Pako : I personally believe that COV-19 is a virus invented in a laboratory, the despicable human being is capable of that and of more horrible things. I am not interested in talking about COV-19 in my lyrics, it seems to me something outside the DEIMLER universe.

All right, let’s talk about the historical death metal scene of Spain. That is about this legendary group NECROPHILIAC. What can you comments about them where I missed ..?

Pako : NECROPHILIAC together with AVULSED are the most influential bands for DEIMLER within the Spanish national scene. NECROPHILIAC released a new album last year "No Living Man Is Innocent", it's a great job, I really like it.

How often do practice music? What brand of instrument do you dream of owning?

Pako : I practice music every day of my life, I usually play the guitar and sing, but my favorite instrument is the bass, I think it is the most important instrument to make good Death Metal, the bass is the cement that unites all music, as long as Let's talk about a good bass, I think, there are bassists who think that the bass is a third guitar, they are very wrong, those are frustrated guitarists who play bass, the opposite happens to me, I always wanted to be a bassist, but I had to settle with a guitar, because the position of bass player was already taken in my first band, back in 1995 ha ha ha, things in life.

Tell about your shows before? What country would you like to perform?

Pako : In the first stage of DEIMLER we did many shows, but in the second stage of the band, that is, from 2018 until now, we have not yet been able to play live. We would like to play all over the planet, we have no qualms about playing anywhere, if they call us and we understand each other we go and play, wherever !!!

Last messages to all death metallers?

Pako : I want to thank everyone who has supported DEIMLER in some way, whether it is buying music or merchandising or sharing, thank you all. And thank you for giving me the opportunity to appear on Metal Distraction and this interview, thank you for your time. Health and Strength friend.
